Christopher met his expectations by becoming independent and to find a role in the world he lives in. Even with the disorder, he has he still was able to take care of himself and to be with his mother. He knows the only way to find his mother was to go independently. This shows he gains some sense of maturity. Christopher felt more independent when he decides to go off by himself without any adult telling him what to do including his father. In addition, after actions that would have never happened after finding those letters this was a start of something new for him and his family to cope with.
