It’s not what most people assume. People believe McCandless’ death was stupid, reckless, and it disrespected the land he wanted to live off due to him traveling with very little resources, disappearing from his family, and eventually leading to his fatal death. Christopher McCandless went on adventure to find a purpose of life. His father expected so much from McCandless that he wanted him to go to college and so he did. McCandless was pressured to do what his family wanted and not what he wanted. Therefore, McCandless decided to leave his family and go into the nature in Alaska where he could be himself. It took him a couple of years and places to go through to finally reach his destination but he accomplished his goal. I disagree with those

He went through a variety of places. He went through a cold desert then he tried going through the waters of Mexico. He was able to cross the border however his map lead him to a dead end in the waters of Mexico. He got to know people and even worked for someone which ended up not getting paid. Then he caught a ride from a truck driver where he then ended up in the stampede trail of Alaska. At first galien thinks McCandless is another delusional visitor to the Alaskan frontier however he then realizes that McCandless is a bright young man and is unique from others.McCandless was willing to go into the nature with very little resources. All he had with him was his 10 pound bag of rice, his non water proof boots, and a small gun which wasn’t enough to kill a large animal. McCandless was able to appreciate what little he had and was still a noble person. He offered Galien what little had left which was a comb and all the money he had left which were a couple of cents. He was able to gain relationships with people like Everett Russ and Wayne Westerburg.in south Dakota where he stayed with him 3 days and told him too look him up in Carthridge for a job if he ever needed one. He worked for him until Wayne was put in jail for fraud and then he was on his own
