179. Christopher is going to run away from home, but he is really confused on where at first. He originally thought Mrs. Shears, but she didn 't answer. That idea also makes no sense because Christopher 's dad would not be that far away. He eventually deduces that his best option is to find his mother in London. I just don 't understand how his logic with people can be so skewed. There is no reason to believe that Mr. Boone would try to kill Christopher. I also don 't understand his decision of going to Mrs. Alexander. Of course when he tells her that he is going to run away that she is going to call his father. She can 't keep a secret like that. Christopher does not do well in crowds of strangers. He goes through the tunnel and his head starts to hurt from the numerous signs offering goods and services since he has to memorize all of them. He sits down outside a café and does a problem called “Conway’s Soldiers” in his head to calm himself. I find it interesting on how Christopher decides to calm himself down. He uses math and puzzles. That is the last thing that I think about doing. When I want to calm down I go to stuff that doesn 't require me to think. He does the opposite. A policeman interrupted Christopher, asking why he has been sitting in the café in a trance for two and a half hours. By using white lies, Christopher was able to unintentionally manipulate the policeman in trying to get a ticket. To get to the train platform he had to go through the underpass again. This time he imagined a big red line stretching across the floor to his destination. He followed the line by putting one foot in front of the other while saying out loud “left, right, left, right.” He also pretended that the people he bumps into along the way are Guarding Demons in an imagined computer game and pushes past them. Christopher is only claustrophobic if he is with other people. That is why the packed train brought back the memory of when the school bus broke down. His mom had to drive Christopher and some other children home. The car only had two other kids in it, but in Christopher 's mind it was so full that Christopher jumped out while it was moving and hurt his head. The policeman from earlier appeared. He caught up to Christopher to take him back to the station to see his father. But then the train started moving, so the policeman had to wait until the next stop. Christopher didn 't know that the train had a bathroom and wet his pants. He didn 't care to ask? When he was done cleaning himself up, he noticed that across from the bathroom are two shelves that reminded him of the cupboard back home where he often went to feel safe. He wasn 't even trying to hide, but that spot just reminded him of safety. This is where he hid from the officer, who eventually got off at the next
