1492- Christopher Columbus first voyage
Christopher Columbus first voyage began on August 3, 1492. He was given three ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the flagship Santa Maria. He convinced Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain to support him. I believe this is an important date to put in the timeline because it was the start of Christopher Columbus in finding the Americas. Christopher Columbus is thought to be the man who discovered America. Although it can be debated, this date in time in very significate in our history.
1494-The Treaty of Tordesillas
On June 7, 1494, an agreement was made between Spain and Portugal. This agreement is known as The Treaty of Tordesillas. The treaty is named after a city in Spain in which it was created. This treaty divided the Americas between Spain and Portugal. This division was made by drawing a line in the Atlantic Ocean. All Lands east were given to Portugal, all lands west was given to Spain. I believe this is an important event to put in my timeline because after Christopher Columbus concerned the New Land it kept peace with Spain and Portugal to both have equal shares in the …show more content…
On his journey, he discovered what is now known as the strait of Magellan. He is also known as the first European to cross the Pacific Ocean. Out of the five sleets only one came back from this dangerous journey. Although Magellan was killed on voyage in a battle, he is still well known for his groundbreaking expedition. He proved that globe is circled by the sea and that the world is larger than it appears. I believe Magellan’s journey is important in my timeline for just that. He set out on journey that was deemed impossible. He could prove that the world is larger and is in fact circled by oceans. I have always loved learning about this particular
