In Genoa a wool-weaver gave birth to a little boy in 1451, who was designed to change the path of history. He wanted to find a route to westward, but instead found a ''New World''. America would not be the same if it was not for Christopher Columbus. When Columbus was born is not certainty. He was born between the months of, August 25 or October 31. His family name was Cristoforo Colombo, but in English his name is Christopher Columbus. Out of five children, Christopher was the oldest. Christopher and his brothers, Bartholomew and Diego, may have been tutored or sent to a monastery school to learn basic Latin and mathematics. Then he met the love of his life, Felipa Perestrello Moniz, whom he wedded in 1479. Felipa's father was the first governor of Porto Santo. Then they had there first and only child in, 1480 to a little boy named Diego. Four or five years later, Felipa died. In 1845, Christopher and his son went to Spain. There he met Queen Isabella. She was about the same age as Columbus. Columbus demands had increased. He wanted to rule the lands he sighted. Columbus also wanted to be granted a percentage of the wealth he purchased back to Spain. Then Columbus went on his first journey westward. Columbus captained the third watercraft, the Santa Maria. There was also two more ships, the Pinta, and Nina. There was a total of about ninety crew members that sailed aboard the three ships.
