Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and colonizer during the Elizabethan age, that discovered the new world, which today is called North America. His work during the Elizabethan age is just one of many examples of explorers that drove the Age of Exploration. Therefore, the Age of Exploration and Discovery was a period of time during the early 15th century and continuing into the early 17th century, in which European ships traveled around the world to search for new trading routes and partners to feed the thriving capitalism in Europe.
