Can history books be trusted? Many textbooks are skim the surface or contain author bias.Relying on one source of information can be risky. The story of Christopher Columbus is one specific example. Recent evidence of violence and slavery, conversion of christianity, and long term disease prove that Columbus should not be celebrated
When Columbus arrived to the new world, he was very mean with the native americans that lived there. There was violence involved and Columbus put the natives in slavery. He forces the natives to switch to christianity even though they had their own region. He brought along long-term diseases with him to the new world. The natives weren't use of the diseases so a lot died of the disease.
