Hero or Villain
Christopher Colombus. You know him, I know him. The indigenous people knew him, before he killed 90 percent of them. One may question whether or not he is a hero or villain. But perhaps the answer truly lies in the question that is not asked. Are his crimes excused because he discovered a continent? His holiday was created to pay tribute to the man who discovered the land mass we now inhabit. We use Colombus day as a way to celebrate latin america, or an excuse for sales. This road has been paved with the best of intentions, however, there are fatal flaws in it. If we handed out holidays to everyone who attempted to wipe out an entire race, jews would have to celebrate national Hitler day. The Lucayan natives welcomed the foreigners
