On Christmas Eve, 1809 (December 24) Christopher "Kit" Carson was born. His family bought the land that they were living on, in the Missouri Frontier from one of the sons of the famous Daniel Boone. Even at a young age Christopher "kit" Carson knew of the beauty and danger that his own land possessed, such as attacks from the native Indian tribes, or just natural things, like starvation or wild animals. At the young age of nine years old, Christopher "kit" Carson's father died. Christopher "kit" Carson did his best to help his now single mom, who had nine other children to take care of, out. Christopher "kit" Carson Gave up on his schooling an education to work on the family lands at the age of 14. So he broke his contract with the saddle maker by running away. He worked as a laborer in a caravan of Merchants after he headed west on the Santa Fe Trail. While in the west Carson learned all there is to know about trapping, because the lands were sometimes hostile. Carson was then known as a famous Mountain Man. A mountain man is someone who lived and worked in the wilderness for long periods of time. Specifically to trap, Kit joined forces with Ewing Young in 1829, they would go on to trap in Arizona and California.
