For the families with young children, decorating the Christmas tree is a process in which different objects are placed on the tree at a certain time; the lights go on first, then the ornaments, and lastly the tree topper. Each part of the Christmas tree has a bigger meaning behind it than what meets the eye. The tree in general represents the eternal life. As the process of decorating the tree begins, the lights are strung on the tree first. Back in the 17th century, the trees were decorated with candles, which caused a fire hazard and forced individuals to decorate the night of December twenty-fourth.
