Reflection Of Jesus Christ: The Passion Of Christ

Superior Essays
The passion of Christ was biblically accurate for the most part. Some scenes were created to draw the attention of the audience. There was although some similarities between the movie and the bible. And some that were not even in the bible at all. The movie focuses more on the torture, violence and death of Jesus. There is only a brief scene that shows the resurrection of Christ.
In the beginning of the movie, it begins in the garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus is praying. It showed a snake that was crawling around him. Jesus stamps the snake to death. The movie was trying to show that he was tempted while praying. The bible however does not suggest that he was experiencing temptation during the prayer of garden. The disciples however were

Everyone eventually panics running off. Peter cuts an soldiers ear in attempt to protect Jesus. The soldier is panicking and Jesus walks by and puts the ear put on and the solider is in utter stock. This is accurate to the bible because the bible does mention that Simone Peter had cut off the solider right ear off and Jesus did put it back on. It is mentioned in John 18: 10-11, Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.) Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?” However John 18 does not mention of Jesus putting the ear back on but it does say in Luke 22: 49-51, “When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed …show more content…
I felt like it was to gruesome and gory for my personal taste. The movie focused way to much on the torture and death of Jesus Christ, while it is an important part to know but not the only one. They should have also included the resurrection of Jesus. It was not enjoyable to watch the torture of Jesus for two hours. However, it did show me that he did suffer a lot for our sins. The assignment to watch the movie and to compare and contrast from the movie and bible had made me read the bible more carefully and see what was the truth. I had learned a lot from this assignment. I have noticed that there are a lot of misconceptions about the bible. People often just believe what the movie or what others says. It is important to listen but also to check if they are right in what they are

Rather than the film starting with the birth of Jesus, it starts off with Jesus on his ministry. Cecil B. DeMille turns the life and Passion of Christ from his meeting with Mary Magdalene, in the very beginning, to his crucifixion, resurrection and the ascension of Christ into heaven after the Resurrection. Although there was words being spoken in the film, DeMille formulated the movie with great sets and incredible effects. The overall tone in this film is carefully crafted in reverence to the Bible. The message is advocated in a particular way that the audience is able to see the actual sense of God’s power and…

The book and movie of The Great Gatsby were both pretty good but each had some differences. Some examples; In the book Nick meets Tom at his door and in the movie, Nick meets Tom at the dock and they are driven to Tom’s house. In the book, Gatsby has a relationship with a self-made millionaire, Dan Cody and in the movie this character is completely left out. Also, in the book the man who Nick refers to as “Owl Eyes” who he sees at one of Gatsby’s parties. He later drives his car into a ditch and in the movie, “Owl Eyes” doesn’t appear or is mentioned once.…

It gave exquisite details on how each individual part happened and how each character responded. Supporting my thesis, the novel was more intriguing than the movie. Each event was described clearly, whereas in the film many were left out or unspoken of. I feel as if the movie focused on just the main parts of the story, but in the book every little obstacle was written out. Therefore, I have given various examples as to why the book was better than the film, along with the major similarities and differences of the…

Due to my working hours, l can’t be there when my son’s come home from school, so my wife will have them call me at work shortly after they arrive. When my son’s and I converse generally we talk about the events of their day. recently my oldest son (13) calls and tells me of a bully who has called him names and my son is asking what he should do, how should he respond? It was during this conversation that the words of Jesus from John 15 ran through my mind: 18 “If the world hates you, [e]you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.…

John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath has several criticisms on who plays the best role in being a Christ figure in the novel. According to Martin Shockley, a critic. States, “The Grapes of Wrath is itself a direct Christian allusion, suggesting the glory of the coming of the Lord, revealing that the story exist in Christian context, indicating that we should expect to find some Christian meaning” (90). Four critics lean towards Jim Casy being the Christ figure whereas Charles Dougherty is the only one to argue for Tom Joad. Even though Dougherty makes valid points to identify Tom as the Christ figure, Jim Casy’s evidence outweighs Tom’s; therefore Jim Casy is the Christ figure in the novel.…

The overall performance of the movie in my opinion was very well. The movie had explained itself very well and had very lots scenes of what I had imagined in my mind from the book. The movie of course does not have some of the special effects that we have now but for 1983 it is a very well done movie. The movie had also had very good music that goes with the scenes. The movie had very good transitions.…

Throughout the Gospels of Matthew and John, each of them expressed rhetorical devices and rhetorical appeals in their stories but illustrated them in varying ways. According to the article by Matera, he expressed “symbolism that was applied to the evangelists by relating Matthews Gospel to the face of a human and Johns Gospel to the face of an eagle. This symbolism, which was specially developed by Irenaeus, enabled the church to see each of the Gospels as distinctive and yet gazing upon the same reality with a different face” (Matera, 2017). Also, in the book of John, he wrote his stories to provide readers to have a clear understanding of imagery. For instance, the cross that Jesus got nailed to played a major role when it came to imagery in the Bible.…

The Divine Plan The Passion of the Christ, a Hollywood portrayal of the judgement and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, brings to life the Gospel’s narration of the most important day of mankind. This paper will demonstrate that although the movie’s depiction slanted towards a bias of the Jewish people being against Jesus, the Sanhedrin were not representatives of the sediment of the Jews. It will also show that Pontius Pilate, a man of consciousness, was ultimately used as a pawn by God to carry out the inevitable death of Jesus. Finally, this paper will demonstrate that the death of Jesus was not a result of the Sanhedrin or Pontius Pilot, but rather the inevitable result of the sins of man.…

The stories of Jesus are represented through the four New Testament Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. Each Gospel emphasizes on particular principles that represent Jesus differently. Jesus is seen as the suffering Messiah in all four Gospels, but each Evangelist puts in his own intake, hence expanding on the original Markan portrait of Jesus. The writers of the Gospels give their own theological assertions, and understandings, which in effect creates a new portrait of Jesus for each Gospel. The Gospel portraits vary and represent a different and evolving view of Jesus’, stories, and traditions over time.…

Throughout the years the “Passion of the Christ” movies have been used to tell the story about Christ’s death and resurrection. Then in 2004 Mel Gibson made his version of the movie and as I like to say brought it in to the 21st century with updated graphics, violence, and blood. The combination of images, faith, and history this film truly was like no other Passion of Christ movie ever done. The Passion of the Christ is a serious and deep piece of cinematography, it not just show us how much pain one man went through for us but it celebrates for the unbeliever the triumph of humanity over an absolute brutality and through this movie for all the believers of the Christian faith this movie has become a powerful reminder that we still need to…
