In the world’s history, people from all points in time on this earth have searched for the meaning of life. For most people, they relate to some supernatural being or event that put them where they are, and follow set of laws that were given to determine how each man and woman should live their life. In today’s statistics the majority of the world believes in some sort of religion, around 6.5 billion people (Wormald). The top two most populated religions or ways of life happen to be Christianity and Islam (Wormald). For Christianity there are different versions such as Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox Christians, and for Islam there is are a Shia and Sunni Muslims (“Christianity vs. Islam”). For Protestant Christians and Muslims, both have one God that they believe exists, a written form of the word of their God, and prophets they believe were destined by their God to amplify the teachings of their God’s existence. To begin, the Islamic group in the world believe in one God they call Allah. Now Allah is the Arabic translation for god, but most refer to the God of Islam as Allah to distinguish Him from other God’s (“Faith Facts”). Same as the Muslim people, Protestant Christians believe in one God, but they also recognize him as three separate entities: “The father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” ("God, Jesus and the Saints"). These are not seen as separate God’s but as the function of God; the father seen as the all-powerful God, the son also known as Jesus, and the Holy Spirit which is present in everyone’s life ("God, Jesus and the Saints"). Islam’s Allah is not seen in this same respect, but as just one being. Each religion, additionally, has well known prophets which were men who lived according to God/Allah’s will and contributed to providing the written word for people of the future to read and understand how God/Allah wanted his people to live. For both religions many prophets were considered to be the same people, such as, “Moses, Abraham, Jesus, and for Islam Muhammad” ("Christianity vs …show more content…
For both of these religions they want to please and live a life according to God/Allah, so that one day when they either pass away or their Lord returns they will be accepted into heaven to be with God/Allah for an eternity (“Faith Facts”). It is also understood by both groups that when one professes their faith in God/Allah that they still must make it their goal to make more believers, and if one is truly a devout Muslim or Christian then they do not want others to suffer the fate of not being a believer and follower of God/Allah. Both religions believe that “those who do not profess their faith in their god will spend in an eternity in torment or hell” (“Faith Facts”). When discussing the end times and life after death for these religions, most will say that this is where they tend to be the most similar. Eventually for both religions when the world as we know it is at its end God/Allah will judge those of the world all that have lived on this planet. Those of Islam believe that as long as they have been devout in their faith and have tried to do good and bring peace that Allah will allow them to stay (“"Prophet Muhammad (570-632)").
