Essay On Christian Religion

Christianity is the most popular religion in America, and shortly after that is Mormonism. These two religions are both grounded in knowing who Jesus is, and the basic fundamentals of the Bible. Although both of these religions claim to be Christians or a form of Christian, Mormons definitely have their own take on how things happened and what they think to be true. I grew up learning a tremendous amount about both of these. I am a grounded Christian believer, with a very broadened knowledge on Mormonism. I have decided to Compare these two religions in order to see the similarities and differences they both hold to be true.
The Mormon culture believes their faith and religion was founded by a man named Joseph Smith, who at the age of fourteen, realized he did not agree with any denomination of Christianity. It started out with Jesus, “The Messiah” being born of a virgin, completely sinless. Jesus lived his life on earth as a Jew, preaching in the synagogues, performing miracles, and healing the sick and wounded. In his journey he acquired 12 men that were appointed to be his disciples. They became followers of Him and were taught what sin was and the punishments for it as well as being informed them on the New Covenant and what was to be fulfilled through that. Christians believe that in Jesus’s mid thirties He was hung on a cross to die for our sins. They also believe that Jesus rose again three days later and ascended into Heaven. The Christian religion claims that because of Christ’s death on the cross for our sins, our debt is now paid. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we are not bound to a set of laws, but instead have grace. The Christian religion is based merely on the Bible and the Bible
