Christianity has always been a large part of my life, as far back as my memories will reach. I grew up in a Christian home and we would go to church just about every week. From there, I thus knew about Christianity from your typical church atmosphere where your parents stick you in a room with other children as they go listen to the sermon. To be completely honest, I truly don’t remember learning much, but just wanting to be back home so I could play. In fact, I don’t remember where I really understood that Jesus is my saviour; all I know is that it’s a deeply ingrained fact in my mind. I understand the need of fellowship with one another and that church is an excellent way to learn about God and all of His mysterious ways, but I cannot just excite myself about the sermon. Though church is one of the primary ways I’ve heard about God, the biggest impact in my life would be Circle C Ranch, a camp that I went to for ten years and worked as a camp counselor for this summer. I started going when I was eight years old which is where I first accepted Jesus into my heart. From then on out, I just kept going and hearing the same sort of sermon in their chapel, though it became more understandable and relatable as I grew older. The last year that I camped, when I was around seventeen years old, everything truly made sense of what God had planned in my life. Sure, I know the most famous ones that are created into Sunday school stories or most taught from camp: Noah’s Ark; the lamp on a stand; the farmer and the seeds; Adam and Eve; the list goes on and on. However, if I had to a story from the bible that I find interesting or inspiring, it would be the story of Noah’s Ark. I originally liked it (when I was a young child) because it had to do with animals. Nowadays, I still like it because it has to do with animals, but it also raises interesting questions regarding the age of the earth. In camp this summer, I was listening to one of the newer sermons that mentioned that the earth is only 10,000 or so years old. Based on the moon, as it’s slowly drifting away from us, if you rewind it back to the closest it was to the earth, then the earth is only about 10,000 years old. Thus, this raises the question of: what about dinosaurs? Well, dinosaurs are reptiles and reptiles never stop growing, they also can reproduce at a very young age. Therefore, this recent scientific development is backed up by Noah’s Ark for he could have very well taken the smaller dinosaurs and not the gargantuan ones. Once the flood came, it shifted how long people and animals could live, as well as the way that we grow. This further proves the theory of the earth’s age, backed up by the fact that huge dinosaurs no longer live as we live in a dying world and
