The Importance Of Christianity In My Life

Great Essays
Christianity has always been a large part of my life, as far back as my memories will reach. I grew up in a Christian home and we would go to church just about every week. From there, I thus knew about Christianity from your typical church atmosphere where your parents stick you in a room with other children as they go listen to the sermon. To be completely honest, I truly don’t remember learning much, but just wanting to be back home so I could play. In fact, I don’t remember where I really understood that Jesus is my saviour; all I know is that it’s a deeply ingrained fact in my mind. As I grew older, I started to sit in with my family for the “big people” sermons, yet I often didn’t pay attention for I thought it was boring. As of the present, …show more content…
I understand the need of fellowship with one another and that church is an excellent way to learn about God and all of His mysterious ways, but I cannot just excite myself about the sermon. Though church is one of the primary ways I’ve heard about God, the biggest impact in my life would be Circle C Ranch, a camp that I went to for ten years and worked as a camp counselor for this summer. I started going when I was eight years old which is where I first accepted Jesus into my heart. From then on out, I just kept going and hearing the same sort of sermon in their chapel, though it became more understandable and relatable as I grew older. The last year that I camped, when I was around seventeen years old, everything truly made sense of what God had planned in my life. I knew that I would need to make a better change, live life for Him and not be ashamed of my …show more content…
Sure, I know the most famous ones that are created into Sunday school stories or most taught from camp: Noah’s Ark; the lamp on a stand; the farmer and the seeds; Adam and Eve; the list goes on and on. However, if I had to a story from the bible that I find interesting or inspiring, it would be the story of Noah’s Ark. I originally liked it (when I was a young child) because it had to do with animals. Nowadays, I still like it because it has to do with animals, but it also raises interesting questions regarding the age of the earth. In camp this summer, I was listening to one of the newer sermons that mentioned that the earth is only 10,000 or so years old. Based on the moon, as it’s slowly drifting away from us, if you rewind it back to the closest it was to the earth, then the earth is only about 10,000 years old. Thus, this raises the question of: what about dinosaurs? Well, dinosaurs are reptiles and reptiles never stop growing, they also can reproduce at a very young age. Therefore, this recent scientific development is backed up by Noah’s Ark for he could have very well taken the smaller dinosaurs and not the gargantuan ones. Once the flood came, it shifted how long people and animals could live, as well as the way that we grow. This further proves the theory of the earth’s age, backed up by the fact that huge dinosaurs no longer live as we live in a dying world and

I am a proud Christian. I go to Crossway Baptist Church in Springfield and have been for basically my entire life. I believe that because my parents took me to church pretty much ever since I was born, that it’s the reason I have very straight forward morals and beliefs. I also believe it has had a major impact on who I have become as a person. I’m caring and loyal, the person my friends come to, to get things off their chest that they don’t feel like they can share with others.…

It was a whole new church that my family was just attending while we were passing through the area, in all honesty I probably only attended five churches in my life prior, due to the fact that my family travelled so vigorously. This being said I wasn’t very holy I just kinda went because due to my age I ended up playing games most the time, never really having to be preached too. This church was contrastive than the prior experiences I was exposed to because I had to go to the main service area with my mother and father. To be blunt this was my first formal introduction to “my lord.” It began with singing, which I even had to endure at the children's ministry, but then came the hour and a half of my first meeting with who this man people always talked about really was.…

I strongly concur that the main reason why the dinosaurs became extinct was because some kind of disaster occurred. I agree with the disaster theory because, if you really think about it, a disaster is the only logical theory that makes sense as to why the dinosaurs vanished from earth. In addition, there have been several studies to prove that disasters are what caused the dinosaurs to become…

I got involved with a small group with two other guys, one guy being a friend and the other being a campus staff guy. Through that small group we decided that our biggest need at the moment was being trained to read God word and able to share our faith with other people. I attended a 10 week long summer project in Tampa, Florida where I learned to share my faith for the first time and was able to led 5 people to Christ. It was a joy and a passion that begin to grow in my life. I developed a heart to take the gospel back to my campus where I wanted other people to hear the same thing that I had heard, knowing they could be in the same position I was at in college.…

I could fill this statement with fluffy, extravagant language and discuss how challenging life is and have some overall theme like what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. But, that hasn’t been my life. A personal statement should be true to your character and I would be lying if I wrote about how depressed I was about life and discouraged by the difficulties I faced. That’s just not my style.…

In my Master of Divinity program I wrote a paper entitled, “What is the place of work in the Christian Life?” That paper was a reflection on Lee Hardy’s book, The Fabric of This World: Inquiries into Calling, Career Choice and the Design of Human Work. While Hardy’s work began with an examination of Greek thought in regards to work and leisure, as represented by the works Plato and Aristotle, a contemporary piece might begin with Working, by Studs Terkel, moving from work into theology, as opposed to moving from philosophy and theology into work. And, the people whose stories Terkel recorded in his work hardly describe a human activity that could be the subject of soaring theology. Hardy even acknowledges in his book, “If the interviews conducted…

Everyone we ever encounter has a passion for something in their life, whether they're are open about it or not. It can be crotchet, sports, reading, or, one of the most popular passions, music. We can't help but share it with whomever we come into contact with. Just being able to share your passion and having those you care about experience it with you is such an amazing thing to witness. How My Faith Defines Who I Am Faith: having a strong belief in a religion, or an even stronger belief in a God. I personally believe in God the Father, and that he created each and every one of us in his own image. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin and brought us new life through his death and resurrection. In my faith I stand as a Catholic, which means I believe in only one God. However, God is three persons, also known as the Holy Trinity, meaning there is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.…

I have a divine calling on my life. It is to convincingly communicate the truth of God to all people. I do not claim the ability to define just how God calls any man or woman, nonetheless, in the very heart of my soul, I hear God’s still, small voice wooing me to commission. I am burdened with the plight of humankind without God. This call was initiated at my conversion and further confirmed through a mission experience in Mexico, during the first eighteen months of confessing Christ as my Lord and Savior.…
