In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
There has always been a great debate as to the origin and role of Satan, i.e. the jinn. According to Islam, both the jinn and the humankind were created by Allah for the sole purpose of worshipping Him. Allah says in the Qur’an: “And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”[1]
Allah will make a speech to both the jinn and mankind on the Day of Resurrection. That means both of them were warned by their messengers and both of them are accountable for their actions. Both Islam and Christianity agree that there are beings that are trying to seduce us into evil and that they are called the jinn or devils. Satan in Islam is a jinn (created from a smokeless flame of fire), not an angel (because we know that no angel has free will and no angel ever went to rebellion against God). Satan is a rival to mankind, not the archenemy of God. Satan is put on this Earth as a servant of God for the purpose of seducing men with the hope that men would resist these temptations so that they can choose good over evil. If there was no Satan in this world, there would be nothing pulling us away from God, and we would have no free will. Since Allah has created everything, He is the Lord of the Creation. So Allah is the Lord of Satan, too. Satan in Christianity is the rival to God; he is “the god of this

The word “enemy” often is used to describe the devil or Satan; and the phrase “our father” is referred to as God. “All extremes, except extreme devotion to the Enemy, are to be encouraged”(32). However, in this quote from the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, God is the enemy and the devil is referred to as our father below. Although it is a fiction story, the book still gives the readers a way to think about the world’s destruction and recovery through a devil’s aspect (New York, NY: Harper Collins Publishers, 1942). Temptation, the biggest reason humans struggle with their relationship with God, is being used by Screwtape in his letters to Wormwood.…

Dariy Tereshchenko AP World Lamb Period 6 Christianity and Islam were two growing and developing religions. These two religions had very different opinions on merchants and their roles in society. The Bible and qurans beliefs both did not seem to match with their ideas on trade. It seem as if Christians believed in that merchants and traders were sinful and warned them with the consequences of participating in trading. Muslims believed that the merchants were a benefit to their society and actually endorsed this way of life.…

Originally Satan was a angel in heaven, until God banished him to hell. His creator made him an angel, and then made him into a hideous creature. Both Satan and the monster had appalling appearances because their creator made them that way. Since they despised their creators for making the hideous, they felt similar hatred towards them. The monster stated that “Many times I considered Satan as the fitter emblem of my condition; for often, like him, when I viewed the bliss of my protectors, the bitter gall of envy rose within me” (Shelley 117).…

As we go about our daily tasks, there is a horrific slaughter taking place in Iraq against the Yazidi people by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). There are thousands upon thousands of spiritual beliefs in the world, all stemming from the heart of worship that the Lord God has placed in every man and woman who has ever lived. As with everything that God has created, however, humans have twisted, distorted, and shaped the longing for worship that is in their hearts and rejected the Lord in favor of false deities and idols. All such religions that people have formed are inherently against God and through the rituals, deities, and belief systems show how, at the cores, humans long to cling to and have confidence in something. Many are polytheistic, believing in more than one individual deity; some are monotheistic, worshipping a single divine being, or as in the case of Atheism, some believe in no higher power whatsoever. Wicca is an example of polytheism, where a goddess is the main deity, with a god as the secondary divinity.…
