Comparing and Contrasting Christianity with Islam
Religion is a guide for many to have morals, as well as to have something to hold onto in times of misfortune or of remarkable miracle. It is something that one will always grasp onto, obey, and learn from, as they carry on with their everyday lives. Christianity, which stands as the most practiced religion, and Islam, which stands as the second most practiced religion, show how a great unity of people, can bring a belief that was once held by a small group of believers and make it to be something of great rejoice and enlightenment. In Christianity, after one dies, he or she is judged based on what they have done. This idea differs based on different perceptions, thought this is the case, it is agreed that after one dies, they go to Heaven or Hell. In Christianity many people believe that if one has sinned greatly there can also be a purification that takes place. Of course everyone does not believe the idea of purification, but they do believe that if one acts morally, they will be treated in the afterlife. Islam has the same idea with Jannah (Heaven), and Jahannam (Hell), because both believe life on earth should consist of peaceful relations, as well as love. The one thing that differs in the Islam religion is that Muslims get to witness the burial of their body; they also get a visit from the Angel of Death. Islam has seven layers of Hell. As each level goes on, it only gets increasingly worse in punishment. It ranges from the Jaheem, the first of the seven layers, consisting of fire all around, to Haawiyah, a level where a person is constantly thrown down from a distance; possibly landing on a stick for example. Hell in Christianity has always been depicted with flames, but the Bible has never mentioned the idea of more than one layer of Hell. This is of great difference because Hell for Christians might just be ten times worse than Hell for certain Muslims. I say this because a Christian Hell has any type of bad deed put into one Hell, while Muslims have punishments split into accounts that get worse by level. Seeing this it can also be unfair for Muslims because while someone of the same bad deed is suffering in the seventh layer of Hell, a follower of Christianity would be sitting in a Hell that is all around the same for every sinner present. There is also the possibility that Hell in Christianity has different punishments, rather than levels in Hell, but it is portrayed
