Christian The Lion

The theme that both the article and the poem share is that lions should be free and about people’s feeling for lions. In the beginning of the story The Wild Life of Christian the Lion, the author, Tod Olson states at the bottom of the page “Can a lion born in a cage ever learn to be free?” and at the end of the story it answers that question, yes. It said at the end of the story that Christian was able to survive in the wild with his own pride, free. Then in the poem it says “And so they belong at watering holes, shaking manes in hot sun” meaning that they both want lions to be free in the wild. In the article it says that “We knew we couldn’t betray him by putting him in the zoo,” meaning that the idea of letting him go grasped them. Also

I agree to a great extent that Ondaatje’s ‘In the Skin of a Lion’ has a continuing appeal because of the unheard voices presented in the novel. Ondaatje allows his audience to have individualised responses to the unheard voices by rejecting the role of a typical omnipresent narrator, who would tell the story from one point of view. By doing this, Ondaatje allows his audience to take control over the way they interpret the text, allowing them to have unique opinions regarding the issues raised throughout the novel. Ondaatje’s purpose was to awaken his responders to the injustices of history. Ondaatje used his authorial intervention to make use of his fragmented plot, shifting perspectives and intertwining stories to challenge his audience…

In both the passage and the fable, there was one common theme that they both shared. The common theme that they both had is that, although always used to one thing, you should always try something new. This theme could have been identified when the boy talks to his teacher about the contest and also when the animal runs out of the cage. Some reasons that this passage supports the theme is because on paragraph twenty-five Mrs. Neville says,"You should consider it". Well if you read the passage you would know that she is saying that the boy should try something new by entering the contest and seeing whether or not this is something he would enjoy doing.…
