Christian Persecution

History – I think one of the major issues facing Christianity today is the lack of people who put Christian practices into work. Many of the younger Christians don’t seem to take Christianity seriously. They can listen to its teachings, but when the time comes, they rarely put those teachings into practice. I’m sure it’s because that they believe that God plays no active role in their lives. There are also people who take their beliefs in Christianity too far by endangering or slandering people who disagree with Christian beliefs. I once read about a man who attacked an abortion clinic in Colorado who claimed to be Christian. We won’t be able to show God’s love to others if we can’t learn to show love to them first. Using force definitely doesn’t work in winning the ears and hearts of people.
There are many Christians today who face persecution all over the world, especially in the Middle East. While I believe that this issue needs to be addressed, I’m not sure of the type of action Christians or the Church should take. If we try to respond with force to the persecutions, we will only enlarge the rift between Christianity and the people behind the persecutions. If we ignore the problem, the persecutions will continue and more people will die. This is still a problem that I think about all the time.

He refers to us as “creatures” who were created by God. There are three conclusions about our nature as creatures. (1) We are made of fear, obedience, of submission, of humility, of prayer, of repentance, and love. (2) The only knowledge of importance to use is the study of God’s character. (3) God must be the object of a person’s moral conduct (pg. 355). Faber’s teachings quote “To make God always our end is always to remember that we are creatures, and to be a saint is always to make God our end” (pg.

The mountains of West Virginia are filled with tons of coal which were needed to fuel the industrialization of the United States. The removal of the coal required a huge workforce as coal miners were forced to dig deeper and deeper into the ground to access the coal. Diane Gilliam Fisher’s poem, “Explosion at Winco No. 9”, showcases the emotional toll on a miner’s family. The families of the West Virginia coal miners lived with the knowledge that each morning might be the last time a wife kissed her husband goodbye, the last time a father held his children or the last time the family had a chance to express their love for each other. The emotional strain on the miners’ wives is illustrated when Diane Gilliam Fisher writes “It is true that it…

At face value, the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight tells of a knight who is challenged by a Green Knight to show the decline in the knighthood, but that is only the literal interpretation. Throughout the story, there are many parallels to the Christian faith seen. The Green Knight places the young knight in a trial just like God might do to Christians. The Green Knight mentions that if Gawain seeks him, then he will be found which is very similar to when Christ says that if we seek, we shall find. The motif of the number three as seen in the Bible for example Peter denying Christ three times and Christ rising after the third day is seen, as well.…

St Agnes was tortured for being a Christian in her time, it was against the law to follow Christianity. Although in Australia I can not go through what St Agnes did for being a Christian, many people around the world are still tortured, placed in jail and even murdered for simply being a Christian. A way that I can help is by writing a letter to the united nations raising awareness of the lack of freedom of religion around the world. I would ask them to work hard in the 6 countries that the American government marked as “countries of particular concern” for religious freedom violations. These countries include Iran, Burma, China, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.…

The proliferation of anti-Christian television programs nowadays may be what the Bible foretold about the rise of “scoffers” in the last days, but Christians can still do something to fight back, according to Rev. Billy Graham. In a question-and-answer column on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s website, a reader remarked at how often Christians and other people of faith are mocked in a comedy program. When the reader asked if such TV shows should be banned, Rev. Graham urged him to fight back by speaking out if anything in the program seemed offensive.…

The term “degenerate” was coined during the Third Reich as a way to describe the physically, mentally, or socially unfit within Nazi Germany. The prime example of that comes to one’s mind is the exclusion and attempted extermination of the Jews during Hitler’s reign. Exclusion within Germany is not solely limited to members of the Jewish faith however. While it is true that the Jews were the most ostracized group during the Third Reich other so called “degenerates” such as the Sinti and Romas, homosexuals, physically and mentally handicapped were all persecuted alongside any other “asocial” Germans who did not conform to the new Nazi German Volk. In this paper I will delve into the ostracized groups and describe why they were persecuted and…

Medieval Europe as a society greatly shunned deviations from cultural norms or established religious orthodoxy. From this denouncement, persecution of minority groups was commonplace, and possibly even a defining trait of European society at the time. Notably, mistreatment of Jewish communities and supposed Christian heresies were the more common forms of religious persecution. Furthermore, even Christians could be subject to persecution, if certain individuals were accused of breaking ethical standards. Likely causes to these recurring instances of persecution may have stemmed from the lack of diversity, as well as the influential religious authority of the Catholic Church.…

In Miroslav Volf’s article, A Christina Contribution to a More Peaceful Social Environment, argues that society’s belief that resurgence of the Christian religion increases violence is not true. In fact he explains that it is quite the contrary stating, “…the more we nurture Christian faith as an ongoing tradition that by its intrinsic content shapes behavior and in its regulative reach touches the public sphere, the better off we will be” (p. 29). He furthers this argument by exploring the relationship between forgiveness, reconciliation, and justice. At the center of the Christian faith there is a “God of unconditional love who reconciles humanity without condoning injustice “ (p.49). If Christians truly embraced these concepts then this will foster peace even in…

Religious contrasts were regularly an obstruction to close ties amongst Jews and Christians. Individuals who share a religion are bound together by normal convictions, qualities, and traditions. They frame a group connected by a confidence as well as by a perspective. Albeit practically every religion shows regard for individual contrasts, adherents frequently observe nonbelievers (or devotees of different beliefs and customs) not just as misinformed and incognizant in regards to reality yet now and again as shrewd, perilous, or even deceptive. For some Christians, indicating disdain for Jews turned into a method for attesting their own confidence.…

I do not think that Christianity has to deal with all of the problems in the world. Some may say that Christianity is bad because throughout some parts of history Christianity was forced on to other cultures. Some people, including this article, might also say that Christianity lead to discrimination and separation between races. However, the Bible states that all human beings are equally created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27) God does not see color as a separation or difference between his children. As humans there is sin that corrupts our thoughts and actions making us imperfect.…

Persecution refers to the well-founded fear of physical or economic harm, among others. 1 In order to gain refugee or asylum status, it is imperative that the petitioner establish clearly well-founded fear to the officers of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or the immigration judge. The persecution of the Christian religion is said to have started all the way back in the first century when Jewish people would supposedly crucify Christians. The main problem with the global issue of the persecution of Christians is that nobody is effectively addressing it. These problems have and are going to continue into the upcoming years if a country does not step up in time. Due to the fact that countries are negligent to the issue of religious persecution, terrorist and extremist groups throughout the world are persecuting Christians year after year with every chance they have. Independence Day is not some quaint celebration of the past and it certainly is much more than frankfurters and fireworks. The American Revolution and its resulting independence was a bold and courageous conception authored by an intrepid bunch of men where a nation could engage in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as creed and not some fictional fairy tale. Such a gallant vision by our Founding Fathers came with a high price – the hangman’s noose – provided they failed. That’s not only conviction, but courage under fire. Who today among the political glitterati would mortgage the same?…
