Early Christians in ancient Roman society faced many difficulties. If Roman citizens were caught practicing Christianity they were condemned to a gruesome death, feeding Christians to the lions was a common form of entertainment for the Emperor. Perpetua and Felicity were two Roman’s who were martyred because of their beliefs in God and His son, Jesus Christ. Roman society rejected Perpetua and Felicity because their faith went against the emperor and many Roman values, when these two women converted they the left their Roman culture behind and traded it in for entry into God’s kingdom.…
Many people consider Paul to be the apostle to the Gentiles. What many people don’t know is that all the locations that Paul wrote letters to also contained high percentages of Jewish people as well. Paul is aware of the large number of jews in these communities due to his visits as depicted in Acts 18.2 ( Keener (184)). While Paul appears to mostly address Gentiles throughout his letters his messages are also to be read and listened to by Jews. In Romans 2:25-29 Paul address the idea of circumcision a total of ten times.…

Sikhs are one of the brown, dark skinned people who have been the targets of anti-Muslim hate crimes. They have been misunderstood because of their beard and turban. Sikhism and Islam are two separate religions. In this survey it was also concluded that some Americans tend to mix Sikhs and turbans with al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, The Islamic state or with the Taliban.…
The term “degenerate” was coined during the Third Reich as a way to describe the physically, mentally, or socially unfit within Nazi Germany. The prime example of that comes to one’s mind is the exclusion and attempted extermination of the Jews during Hitler’s reign. Exclusion within Germany is not solely limited to members of the Jewish faith however. While it is true that the Jews were the most ostracized group during the Third Reich other so called “degenerates” such as the Sinti and Romas, homosexuals, physically and mentally handicapped were all persecuted alongside any other “asocial” Germans who did not conform to the new Nazi German Volk. In this paper I will delve into the ostracized groups and describe why they were persecuted and…
The two films I found most reflecting concerning diversity and ethics were “Confronting Discrimination and Prejudice (2008)", and “Faith to the Fire (1993).” Faith to the Fire described the discrimination and intimidation of women nuns & member of a sisterhood, of the Catholic Church. “Confronting Discrimination," had multiple segments, each part occupied women. Each part took diversity further by showing perceptions of others in diverse situations involving women and men, of various ethnic groups. In my opinion, both films primarily concentrated on women and their difficulties.…
One example of survival and compassion is in the beginning of the story when Mrs. Schacter goes into shock after being separated from her family. While in the train she frantically screams and claims that she sees a “terrible family and fire” and there is none. On page 25, she says “Jews listen to me… I see fire! I see flames, huge flames”!…

Flavian Policies and the Roman Religious Atmosphere During the Flavian Dynasty, the church suffered tremendous persecution as the Emperors attempt to eradicate those that practice Christian faith. The writer of the book of Hebrews wrote specifically to address the persecution of the saints and encourage them to remain in the faith. Jude spoke directly to their hearts encouraging the church to “contend for the faith” in Jude 3.…
Christianity made its way through the Roman Empire spreading like fire, despite being persecuted for going against the Greco-Roman beliefs. The prosecutions against the Christians only served to strengthen the religion, as it looked for ways to protect itself by developing a “more centralized organization of its various church communities” ( Spielvogel…
The emperors hated Christianity so much for one main reason. “The Romans tolerated the religions of other peoples unless these religions threatened public…
