As I am progressing into adulthood, I have experienced many successes but also many failures. I have learned that I serve a greater purpose than just making myself happy: being a man for others. I am continuing to take steps toward becoming the person God desires. In my journey at Jesuit, I have matured into a man that expresses certain qualities of the Profile of a Graduate at the Time of Graduation such as being Open to Growth, Religious, and Loving. By the time of graduation, the Jesuit graduate should take responsibility for his own growth. Being Open to Growth means the graduate seeks opportunities to open his mind, imagination, emotions, and all other aspects of life. At Jesuit I have built a stronger relationship with God than I have ever had before. The more I have been exposed to scripture, the more I have seen God in everyday life. Additionally, I now understand the Catholic Church’s stance on many modern issues. Understanding my role in God’s plan has helped me live a more religious life. Instead of viewing God as a distant being, I have connected with him in personal and private prayer, which has made Him present in my life. I have started to rely on myself more than others when it comes to my faith. Also, I have learned the morality behind other religions which has helped me more fully understand my own religion. My morality is now a tool that can guide me in every decision I encounter. Most importantly, I have learned the power of God’s healing and mercy through forgiveness. As I continue to grow in my Catholic faith, I want to more fully understand Jesus and his relationship with man and grow into a man for

St. Francis was raised in a fairly wealthy family, and it was not until he was captured at battle for two years, that he decided to embark on the glorious journey of knowing Jesus Christ. He began preaching to word of God, and embraced others that were not of his kind. Students who attend Our Lady of the Lake College should be of the same example to others throughout their academic careers. As Franciscans, We live by five core values that are service, reverence and love for all of life, joyfulness of spirit, humility, and justice.…

What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…

Religion is an established way of living one's life, while one's spiturality is way more complex and inherent than that of religion. To me they are not the same thing. They are two words that interchangeably get used together alot but not the same thing. Relgion is a set of dogmas, beliefs, rituals, precices and of memebership, while spirtuality is something internal. It is both universal in that we all have it but personal in a sense that it is unique to us.…

My purpose in life is to serve others. My mother says this began at birth because I was such an easy baby so she could take care of my hyperactive and autistic brother; she says it is just naturally who I am, and I agree. This is the reason I chose to attend high school at St. Joseph’s Academy whose motto is “Not I, But We,” and whose mission includes “serving the dear neighbor without distinction.” This is also the reason I chose to attend a Jesuit University for my undergraduate career, as its mission incorporates making “decisions in the light of what is truly for… the service of those in need” as well as forming “men and women for others.” These ideals are my ideals, and I believe that this is what draws me to be an Occupational Therapist…

“Set your affections on things above; love one another; commune at the table of our Lord in one spirit; worship in spirit and in truth; and if daily adoring, imploring, and living the divine Life, Truth, Love, thou shalt partake of the bread that cometh down from heaven, drink of the cup of salvation, and be baptized in Spirit,” wrote Mary Baker Eddy in 1898 (Christian Science Versus Pantheism). Mrs. Eddy (as she is colloquially referred to by her followers) was the woman who came to found the Christian Science religion, based on the metaphysical New Thought movement, in 1879 (Christian Science, “What is Christian Science?”). The Catholic University of America is one of a kind among colleges in the United States — even among Catholic colleges. Also, it's not on the grounds that we're found minutes from the heart of the country's capital in Washington, D.C. It is on the grounds that we were particularly established by the Catholic diocesans of the United States, with a sanction from that point Pope Leo XIII, to be the national college of the Catholic Church in America. We look to develop another era of Catholic Minds, to discover new and energizing approaches to apply the endless assets of the Catholic scholarly convention, and to take the best considering Catholic Minds, over a wide span of time, to tackle the issues of contemporary life and enhance the way of life around us.…

An Essay on Ministry An Understanding of Christian Ministry I will never forget my final interview for a youth pastor position at a small church in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I had survived the gauntlet of interviews with the pastoral staff, but in this concluding examination, I would face the elders of the church so that they might probe into my thinking and life to determine my fitness for the position. The meeting started with prayer and platitudes, but then began with a bang when an older gentleman looked at me and opened the “real” questioning with these words: “Todd, we are calling you as the youth pastor of this church to minister to the youth of our community. So would you please tell me what ministry is?”…
