The Bible teaches Christians the word of God and how it helped to shape Christianity. It not only tells stories from which we can learn from, but it gives an outline of who God is and about His character. It tells of Jesus and his work for humanity. About Christian faith and the role of the church. The bible is more than a tool for pastors and the faithful, it is a guide on how to live your life as a Christian,but more importantly, how to be a better human being.

The Bible starts with God creating all. The first sentence states that; “In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). In the Old Testament, we learn that the character of God as The Creator is loving, patient, kind, just, merciful, gracious, joyful, creative, generous, and also jealous and angry. We are also told in the Bible, that we are created in His image; “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). We can therefore expect to share common characteristics with God. We see God as perfect, but as humans, we are, due to the fall into sin (Gen. 3), corrupt and imperfect. That is a big difference between God and us. (perhaps a distinction here is that we are dependent on Him and His words, but He is not dependent on us) That difference shows God’s authority. The Psalms give us a few examples of this; “Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him” (Psalms 115:3) and “The Lord does whatever…
