In order to achieve true happiness, you need to follow Jesus’ way of living. There are four fundamental characteristics and tools of Christian discipleship, but the ones I am focusing on are a personal relationship with Jesus, and living out the message. If you exhibit a close connection to Jesus, your peers will see a deep happiness that will interest them. Being a Christian disciple isn’t just claiming it; it is living out and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Missionaries, such as Francis Xavier and Ignatius of Loyola, performed apostolic service by spreading the good news. They flawlessly portray and live out the true meaning of being a Christian disciple and I wish to follow them. There are several ways we have learned about Christian …show more content…
Francis Xavier and St. Ignatius of Loyola were missionaries and serve as a very good example of a Christian disciple. St. Ignatius began to be a follower of Jesus when a cannonball hurt him. During his recovery, he read many books on saints and “The Life of Christ.” He shared a personal relationship with Jesus during his 3 daylong confessions and The Spiritual Exercises that allowed him to strengthen their relationship. He lived out the message by exchanging clothes with a beggar, giving up riches for poverty, and living by the motto “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam” or “For the greater glory of God.” He surrounded himself with a community of like-minded individuals through his roommates at the University of Paris and building Jesuit schools. St. Francis Xavier began to devoutly follow Jesus through his association with Ignatius. Ignatius exposed Xavier to Jesus’ characteristics and Xavier admired and wanted to acquire these characteristics of love and peace. Xavier shared a personal relationship with Jesus through his thirty days of meditations, prayers, and the Spiritual Exercises. Xavier profoundly lived out the message of Jesus through his apostolic service abroad. He sought to reclaim the Holy Land. He brought the Christian faith to the people of the newly discovered countries of the East, such as India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan. A close connection to Jesus will make others attracted to the connection and inspire them to have a personal relationship with Jesus too. Spreading the Good News of Christ will allow others to be exposed to their deepest desires and true self. Xavier and Ignatius of Loyola were two missionaries who shared the message of God and they serve as role models to others. In order to reach real happiness, you need to resemble the life of Jesus Christ and live as a true Christian
