We Christian counselors are called to partner with our Lord Jesus Christ. As mentioned by Hawkins & Clinton in their book,"The ultimate task of a Christian counselor is to be Christ's partner in the process of redemption and restoration (2015, p.21)".We are anointed by God to minister as the Word declares, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners(Isaiah 61:1). We are sent out to the mission field, the broken and fallen world, to serve the people suffering from all kinds of emotional wounds, broken relationship, affliction, trials, fears, worries and …show more content…
God has not promised to wipe out our tears this world. However, he has ensured to comfort to ease our troubled heart and receive strength from Him. The apostle Paul says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we receive from God(2 Corinthians 1:3-4)". Romans 5:3-4 perfectly teaches the positive perspectives of suffering, "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." Understanding this truth, we must learn to find joy in life as word of God says, "we greatly rejoice knowing that all suffering, grief, and trials are for a little while in our life(1 Peter 1:6-7)". We Christian counselors are someone who understands deep wound of others, feel pain and stand with them with prayer as his words say“weeping with those who weep (Rom. 12:15)". The message of Christian counselor is to offer hope and restoration through the power of Jesus Christ to others. As McMinn, well-stated outcome of Christian Christian counseling, "Those who enter therapy in the midst of pain experience a restorative counseling relationship that brings hope, and meaning into their broken lives(2011, …show more content…
I have observed these fundamental concepts such as exhibiting sincere hospitality, establishing trust, empathetic listening, furnishing hope and executing the plan as an insightful and valuable principle in counseling hurting clients. I will enthusiastically greet and welcome client Jamie as she enters the room. I understand that hospitality is an indication of love and care of others. Hawkins & Clinton has stated how Christian should treat our client in the textbook," we respond to the Spirit of Love and loyalty, honor God, and imitate Christ's kindness, humility, and strength in all we do ( 2015, p. 6)". After welcoming her, the first thing I will assure that I am here to serve her to the best of my capacity. And then I will provide her thoroughly, detailed, and accurate information about my proposed counseling procedures, inform alternative treatment approaches and ask to sign written consent form if she wishes to proceed with counseling to allow me counseling therapy(McMinn, 2011,
