Someone Who Has Had An Impact On Me

If I were to ask you what people have had the greatest impact on your life, whom would you pick? Some would say that a family member has had the greatest impact on their life, or maybe they would say a trip that they went on. The person who has had the most impact on my life is not only my softball coach, but also someone who has made me push myself to my limits. Christi Weiser has had a huge impact on the type of person I have become. I have played for Coach Weiser for two years now and she as taught me more about life than anyone ever will. The lesson that she had taught me that will stick with me forever is respect. She has taught me that respect is earned and that it doesn’t matter what grade

We do not back talk them, we do not say negative things to them, and if we happen to knock one of them down by accident, we better help them up. Weiser may come across as strict to some people, but no one knows her better than her team. She always puts her family first and then her team. I have never met someone who is as down to earth as she is. Coach Weiser has helped me with just about anything and everything. She has helped me with personal problems and she has helped me set goals for myself that I thought I would never reach. She speaks very highly of her team and makes sure that we encourage everyone who is on the …show more content…
If someone was batting and swung at a pitch but missed, she would look them directly into the eye and tell them that they are better than that pitch and to go get the next one. She would tell us that we needed to be self-discipline otherwise we would never learn from our mistakes. Coach Weiser was a very strict person and expected great things from us even at practice. While at practice we always had to wear pants, even when it was so hot outside I thought my body would overheat and shut down. The reason she always made us wear pants was because just in case we had to do sliding drills we were prepared. Wearing pants was probably the worst part of practices because it was so extremely hot outside. When it was nighty degrees out, and sweat was rolling off of our skin like rain on a window, there we were. Some were in sweatpants and some in softball pants. People probably thought that we were ridiculous. Here we were, in the middle of June, wearing sweatpants and running around the field in nighty degree weather with the sun beating down on our backs. She also always made sure that we had our jersey’s tucked in or our shirts. When games rolled around, we looked sharp. We might not of been the best softball team last year, but we at least looked good. It didn’t matter if we were just stretching, if someone had their shirt were not tucked in she would call us out on it and tell us to “Get dressed.” If we decided to wear

Bob Wager was the most renowned man in my high school, as well as the best teacher, at least to all of those who were fortunate enough to have him as an instructor. Bob Wager was my head football coach at James Martin High School. When he walked around it was almost most as if he had a golden glowing aura around him. His demeanor demanded greatness of those around him and he accepted nothing less. I remember watching him speak to my team and me as young 12-13 year old boys; I was filled with elation because I would have the opportunity to play with him in the upcoming year.…

Coach of the Century Tom Landry once said, “A coach is someone who tells you what you don’t want to hear, and has you see what you don’t want to be, so you can be who you have always known what you can be.” Kevin Kanipe, “Coach Kevin”, is the most relevant man when you see that quote because he assists oh helping young athletic softball players, uses his spare time to coach, and helps getting these softball athletes getting recruited. When I first got introduced to Mr. Kanipe I was in ninth grade. I did not know of him but it made me wish I did a lot sooner. My former high school coach mentioned me to him so he can see what I was capable of.…

Her biggest role as a leader came when the older players started to leave and the new players like Sydney Leroux and Christen Press came in. When they came she was there to answer questions and help the young players feel more at home with the team. As she stated “The key to leadership is you have to have complete security with yourself.…

Imagine a 6 year old girl wanting to play softball and her first time on the field her coach is yelling at her. The topic of how a coach treats their player has been a debate thought history. Even though some say coaches should be strict, there should be strict rules for how a coach treats the players because it can mess with their head and could lead to unfair treatment. First of all, when coaches say push their players it affects the players mental state when it comes to the sport. According to the site Debate.org it states that coaches affect whether or not these players want to keep playing and when you ride them to hard it makes them not want to keep playing and when you ride them to hard it makes them not want to play.…

Leeman Bennett once said, “A winner is someone who sets their goals, commits themselves to those goals and then pursues their goals with all the ability that God has given them. That requires someone who believes in himself or herself, who will make self-sacrifices, work hard, and maintain the determination to perform at the best of their ability” (“Running”). This is the mind set of every great softball player, and in order to have this mind set, players must acknowledge and appreciate the history of the sport. Understanding that softball is a unique sport with a rich history that has greatly impacted the world and has both influenced and been influenced by all of the people it involves is an important aspect of being successful in the sport.…

Coaches have the power to change lives. I can humbly say this as all my coaches, both good and bad, have taught me in some way what it takes to be a good athlete and most importantly how to be a good human being. They have taught me life lessons that I can only hope to preserve by instilling them into my athletes in my time as a coach. The articles I have chosen to highlight in this essay show how coaches have helped to develop character in athletes, how they pushed them to be the best on and off the field of play, and illustrate how they stepped into the lives of athletes and became so much more than just a coach.…
