Chrismatic Vs Transformational Leadership

Charismatic and transformational leadership are mostly considered two opposite type of leadership. Even though they have some differences there is much that common between the two. Both share same characteristics type for a leader. They have similar influences on their followers as well.
Charismatic leadership is a leadership type that the role of leader is based on his or her charisma. The followers of leader follow this or her direction basically just because of his or her charisma. Charisma can be defined as a kind of charm. The charismatic leader has a strong connection with the people, so that even their one word has a big impact on the followers. As a matter of fact they are good public speakers. They have generally highly emotional personalities and sometime play on the emotions of the followers. They may or may not be familiar with ethics and they look for personal loyalty not the loyalty to goal or structure.
On the other hand, transformational leaders almost have very same affect on their followers, they have access to their followers ideas and impulses. They can connect to the people as well,

For instance, two groups work on the same project, one with a charismatic leader and one with a transformational leader, even though both teams starts out with spirit energy and enthusiasm, if the leaders leave for just one day, it results that the charismatic group will be failed altogether. Because the belief of being successful lies with the leader's existence there. Without that person's physical existence completion is impossible. On the contrary, followers of transformational leader are connected to the team and their goals more than themselves and their leaders. If the leader leaves we may assume that a team member will replace him or her and the project will be completed without any
