On December 15, 2011 the entire fate of the Clippers’ franchise changed upon the acquisition of Chris Paul. His presence immediately propelled the team from an exciting team to watch into a legitimate NBA championship contender. In his five seasons with the team, the Clippers have made the Western Conference playoffs as many times as they had prior to his arrival.
Paul has been an All-Star and has appeared on one of the three All-NBA Teams (3x First Team, 2x Second Team) in every season with the team. His productivity on the court has improved. Since joining the team, Paul has averaged more points and assists per game, while shooting a higher percentage from the field.

Without him the Clippers would still be in basketball mediocrity.
G- Randy Smith: 1971-1979, 1983
Randy Smith spent eight and half of his 12 seasons as a member of the Clippers/Braves franchise. The prime of his career came as a member of the Braves/Clippers, making both of his All-Star appearances (winning the All-Star game MVP in 1978) in that span and his only appearance on an All-NBA Team (1x Second Team).
He was a traditional point guard, not asked to score, but rather distribute. His main job was to feed his teammates, and with the exception of Chris Paul, no one in franchise history did it better than Smith. Smith is the team’s all-time leader in assists, steals, games played, and although he wasn’t a prolific scorer, total points.
The franchise made the playoffs in three of Smith’s seasons all of which came in Buffalo. Along side Bob McAdoo, Smith was among the first faces of the franchise and his impact cannot be undersold. F- Elton Brand: …show more content…
In that season Brand averaged a career high 24.7 points and 2.5 blocks per game. His field goal percent (53 %) was the highest for any season in which Brand was a full-time starter. Brand also led the team to the playoffs, ending the team’s 10-year playoff drought.
Brand averaged a double-double as a Clipper and is third in points scored and blocked shots. His 4,710 rebounds are second to only DeAndre Jordan.
F- Blake Griffin: 2009-Present
Along side Chris Paul, Blake Griffin has had a tremendous impact on the Clippers’ franchise as a whole. Like Paul, Griffin has been apart of the Clippers’ emergence as a premiere NBA franchise.
Since being drafted with the first overall pick in 2009, Griffin has averaged 21.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, and four assists per game. In that span, he has established himself as one of the best passing big men in the NBA. His ability to create fro others from the power forward position is a truly unique skill.
Griffin has made five Western Conference All-Star teams in six seasons and appeared on four All-NBA Teams (3x Second Team, 1x Third Team).
Griffin has changed the entire landscape of the franchise. From the day he was drafted, Griffin has been the face of the Los Angeles
