In one instance McCandless found out later in his life that his father had another family other than his own for years. He called on a number of old family friends who still lived they're and from their answers to his queries, Chris pieced together the facts of his father’s previous marriage and subsequent divorce- facts to which he hadn’t been privy.” It is apparent that he had a problem with his father and mother keeping these big secrets, which fueled his leaving so abruptly as revenge on them. In another event Chris was different when he went to colleges in the way he acted, his friends saw him being “introverted, and almost cold.” On page 120 it says “Many aspects of Chris’s personality baffled his parents. He could be generous and caring to a fault, but he had a darker side as well, characterized by monomania, impatience, and unwavering self-absorption, qualities that seemed to intensify through his college years.” Therefore Chris’s childhood made him have enough with is father to where he left him, and tried to make him mad by giving all his own money for college to charity.
