"Happiness is only real when shared", a quote by Chris McCandless. Chris went into the wilderness to experience adventures and to find his meaning of happiness. He found happiness in both nature and his heart. He realized that the feeling and experiences of his happiness were best shared with someone. Throughout the book Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, Jon talked about the folks Chris had befriended along the way on his adventures and the strong impressions he left.
Chris McCandless was a unique person and left a strong impression on many of the people he met on his journey and the readers that read Into The Wild. Some readers admired him for his courage and noble ideals, while others thought that he was a reckless, crazy, narcissist who lost his life out of arrogance and idiocy and didn 't deserve the media attention he received. The impression I got from him myself was that he was a bright and strong person that hit rock bottom because of the troubles he had at home. In the end he was still a courageous person for taking the plunge and living in the wild with absolutely no care in the world at the time. Before he died, he wrote a letter that said "I have had a happy life and thank the lord. Goodbye and may god bless all!", and that holds a lot of meaning because many people thought that Chris was suicidal.
