The author’s note shocked me the most because the book gave me a spoiler before I even started reading the book. Homer’s Epic, Odyssey has the same format too. Odysseus returns to home before the story starts. In this book, Into the Wild, Chris McCandless, the main character of this story is dead before the author narrates what happened to him. The speaker in this book is very interesting. As far as I have read until chapter 3, the book is compilation of different interviews with different people who have found him odd or who knew Chris. Life of Pi has similar format because it also starts and ends with an interview. Telling a story with past tense and the recall that the interviewees make of Chris reminds me that the protagonist of this story
