McCandless was born and raised in El Segundo, California on February 12, 1968. Chris had a little sister named Carine. He had a very busy father. Infact his father has a rocket engineer. His father was abusive to Chris and Carmine. It was a fact that he was a very intelligent person, but he didn’t show it in the way many people would. He spent nights on the street to know how it felt to be homeless, he spent massive amounts of money giving food to the homeless. Many of these books influenced him to do lots of the things he did. A large group of people suspect that reading books such as “Life In the Woods”, “To Build a Fire”, “Brown Wolf”, and many, many others. I have my suspicion of this because he changed his name before going into the woods. He called himself Alexander Supertramp, this name came from a book called “Autobiography of a Super-Tramp”. Chris survived in Alaska for 2 months before meeting a harsh fate. The book “Into the Woods told the famous story of McCandless’ life. Almost all of it was true, except that it didn’t mention anything about his abusive parents. His sister, Carmine wrote a story called “The Truth” after Chris died explaining the real reason why Chris threw himself into the woods.
