“The American Legend” was a man who focused on helping others instead of himself. The story of his work has been called “American Sniper”, becoming a box-office hit (“Chris Kyle American Sniper”). However, fighting overseas for his country was not the only thing he lived for. This legend was named Chris Kyle, and he impacted the world with his bravery in the fight against terrorism, his work with war veterans, and the creation of non-profit organizations. He saved others instead of himself, becoming a hero and an influence on the world.
An anonymous quote states “Bravery. It’s what defines us”. The act of bravery consumed Chris Kyle’s life and defined him. When working as a navy seal, there were many situations where Kyle put his life in danger, in hopes of saving others (Tauber). He also worked with wounded war veterans. (“Chris Kyle Biography”) In the United States, there are “2.9 million” wounded veterans (“Number of Disabled U.S. Veterans Rising”), with the number of wounded increasing daily. In 2009, the number of disabled veterans jumped tremendously, increasing by 25 percent (“Number of Disabled U.S. Veterans Rising”). Chris Kyle influenced and impacted many of these people with the creation of his non-profit group, FITCO Cares Foundation, which focuses on supplying exercise equipment to wounded veterans (“Chris Kyle Biography”). Since Kyle’s death, the group has changed names, now being called Heroes Project (Wood). It has branched out, growing rapidly, working to serve families in the military. Family outreach and experiential therapy play a big part in their goal of helping combat veterans meet their “physical and emotional therapy goals”
