Leif Eriksson-Rapid winds lead him off his route and took him and his ship all the way to the north american coast. Leif and his crew came in on the labrador Peninsula to, what is now, present day Canada. Soon after, the vikings sailed farther south to end up on the island of Newfoundland, and maybe to present day present day New England. When Eriksson landed, he ended up in a coastal area known as Vinland. Leif stayed, however, the vikings left just a couple years later due to constant threats of Native Americans. It also was too far from other vikings to be settled there any longer. Once the vikings left, Europeans had not returned, even centuries later. In the 1400’s, interest in discoveries did, though, strike some european explorers attention.
Chris Farley- I chose chris Farley to act as leif Eriksson because they are very much alike. Chris Farley is known as a comedian and someone who get bullied/pushed around. He has lot of the same traits as Eriksson does that he plays. In all of his movies, he is the person who gets joked about. I think that he would be a good character to play as Leif if they ever made a movie about him.

Their first group, containing 300 men, landed on the Florida coast. They faced a shortage of food early in the trip which was just one of many severe problems along the way. Their journey continued along the gulf coast and later on the mississippi river. Many members died due to severe weather along the way. De vacas boat got wrecked on an island in texas which led to only four men surviving including de Vaca. After being shipwrecked, the men got captured, but escaped close to six years later. The journeyed on foot getting help along the way from native americans. Later, de Vaca returned to Spain, writing about his travels in the first European
