Teaching My career of choice was teaching and I picked kindergarten. I have a love for smaller kids and enjoy teaching them new things. One pro would be watching them grow and learn and to see the excitement they have when they complete and accomplish a complicated task. Another thing that I felt was great about this career was that you can use your own creativity to teach different things so if they are not getting the concept one way I can change it up and help them better understand it in a fun way or a more structured way depending on the student and which way helps them.…

Why did I choose to become a teacher? That is a question that I kept reflecting on since this year. When I was in sixth grade, my teacher told me that I would make a great teacher someday. When my teacher made that statement it took me by surprise because I never really did think of it.…

Why do I want to be a Teacher? Teachers have multiple roles in today’s society, and it is upsetting when the teachers out in classrooms do not want to be with their students. The way that teachers hold themselves in the classroom can deeply affect their education, as well as their self-worth from the time when they are in the teacher’s classroom further on, and so it is imperative that they desire to be with their students and desire to make a positive impact. This is one thing that I personally am excited for with becoming an elementary teacher, and I am excited for so much more. I am interested in working with young children because they are our future, and need to be prepared as best as they can in order for them to excel and make the world a better place. My love for children started off when I was taking Human development in high school as a freshman and that same teacher informed me to join Early Childhood development and preschool class our school offered. I agreed to join and enjoyed the class, and running a preschool for a month. I knew then that I wanted to work with children as a career and go to college. Working with children often reminds me of when I was young and struggled to understand my preschool teacher since at that time my first language was Spanish.…

Career interests were plentiful as I grew up, especially during my early childhood. Each area of interest I expressed to my parents was encouraged through a combination of play and education The number of jobs I wanted as a young child was significantly large and I do not recall every single occupational investigation. Those I do recall include doctor, firemen, veterinarian, professional basketball, musician, Lego set developer, film director, chef, gardener, and college basketball coach. The many areas of interest were often imagination focused and facilitated through play. Additionally, these areas were explored for homework assignments given by my mother and homeschool teacher, Vicki.…

Every teacher has their own motives to answer why they chose this profession. According to Don Kauchak and Paul Eggen (2014), some of those reasons may include job security especially due to the teacher shortage (p. 9), personal and intellectual growth (p. 7), being able to have most holidays off (p. 8), wanting to make a difference (p. 7), or seeing each student’s progression towards improvements in a particular subject area (Kauchak and Eggen, 2014, p. 14). Although there are several benefits, the driving force behind my decision to teach is the self-growth through challenging work, smiles from the children when they have fun learning, and the maturing of the student’s behavior.…
