When it comes to women, society has assigned them the strict role of motherhood. Everyone from the media to the government propagate the concept of motherhood as the supreme purpose of women for their existence. To get married and then to have children are posited as their sole reasons for living. The identity of a woman is attached directly to her ability to be a mother. That is considered the means to her end. There is a certain stigma associated with women who are childless. Society villifies them if women choose their own path instead of conforming to societal expectations by abstaining from having children. They are reprimanded if they choose a career over kids, by branding them as ‘self-centric’ and ‘careerist’. But in the 21st century, when times are changing today, these archaic viewpoints do not hold water. More and more women are embracing their career over kids.
