Everything happens for a reason, something Chirsty knows all too well. In the book Chirsty Miller Collection: Volume 2 by Robin Jones Gunn, it follows Chirsty in California, going through High School and trying to follow her parents rules. The main character of this book is Chisty, she struggles with fitting in and peer pressure. Christy deal with a lot of ups and downs with dealing with boys and a friend coming to town from Wisconsin. The biggest lesson Christy learns is to not be taken advantage of. Christy works really had to fit in with her friends but also please her parents. Everyone has weaknesses and struggles. Prom is around the corner and Chirsty still wasn't allowed to date so she was hopping her parents would let her go with Todd. …show more content…
The person who keeps taking advantage of Christy is her “boyfriend” Rick. First, Rick wants to see a R rated movie even though Christy isn't allowed to and he tried to pressure Chirsty into watching it anyway. Rick keeps getting mad at Christy because her parents have many restrictions on Chirsty for dating. The last straw for Christy was when Rick took the bracelet Todd got her and sold it to buy a new one for Chirsty without her knowing. Chirsty works more hours to try and buy it back. By the end of the book Chirsty realizes she doesn't want to date Rick anymore and they stay friends.
In the second book in the series Christy Miller Collection: Volume 2 by Robin Jones Gunn, it follows Chirsty around California trying to navigate friends but also following her parents rules. She learns how to work around her weakness and struggles. Christy’s friend comes to visit and things didn't go as well as she had hoped. Her boyfriend takes advantage of her and she learns she can't be with him for now. The book really connects with me, it follows a teenager around and try to figure out life, just like any other teenager. I learned to not be taken advantage of and to see the real in
