Organic products and chemical and GMO free produce and meats come at a higher cost than what Taco Bell is receiving there overly size tomatoes and finely chopped “meat.” The quality of the ingredients and those higher prices then affects the price projected to the consumer. Luckily, for Chipotle, the company is seeing growth in all areas and is proud of the food they provide. Chipotle is known for their authentic and healthier Mexican food options and a more expensive menu shows for more valuable products. Mexican food is also closed off to how many options you can provide. It is mainly done with professionals inside of the company rather than an outside agency. This allows Chipotle to save money on costs that go hand in hand with advertising, hiring a different agency, building that trust and relationship and saves money. Word of mouth advertising is a strong point for Chipotle. Since there is a lack of advertising, this then generates a slow growth internationally. This weakness can be overturned by the possibility of more openings of restaurants. The Chipotle name can only grow from here.
Opportunities
Chipotle has a few opportunities to grow. Although there are approximately two thousand Chipotle restaurants across the U.S., there are currently only 17 locations outside of the country. The company has a major opportunity to expand internationally and research target customers and consumer tastes. Chipotle does currently offer catering for certain locations, as well as online ordering for pick-up. They have the opportunity to introduce home delivery if they chose to pursue that route.

This is a major threat because the competitors can lower their prices, provide better service, and/or create new items. The competitors in the same industry as Chipotle can do all three because of them wanting to underscore Chipotle and take away some of its market share and customers. Taco Bell is already creating new items and taking away customers from other places because they know how to appeal to the masses through their creative advertising. The next threat the volatility of the price of raw materials. The next threat is the volatility of the price of raw materials. The price of the raw materials that Chipotle needs can rise and fall dramatically depending on what is happening in the environment. An example of this would be that if there was a crop disaster, then the price for the beans and avocados would go up. Another example would be that if there was a disease in the beef that they get, then the price of the beef that they would buy would go up.
