Chinese schools are very different from schools in the United States. For example, they are required to go to school more than most Western countries. Many school districts have ten hour school days, six days a week, for 35 weeks. The U.S. requires 36 weeks, but with shorter school days and weeks. This means Chinese students go to school 30% more than U.S. students (Hull). However, a few parts of China are starting to take more influence from Western culture and trying to cut down the required school time. Also, schools in general are less casual than American schools.
