INTODUCTION:
According to a new report, "Charting new pathways to higher education: International secondary students in the United States." , published by the Institute of International Education, most of the nearly 49,000 diploma-seeking students at U.S high schools are from Asia. Among them, 46% came from China.
These days, coming to U.S to pursue a high school diploma became more and more popular in China. Some of the students came to U.S because of their parents. Usually, in this case, their parents got a job in U.S or were going to start a company in U.S. Others enrolled in American …show more content…
However, some people still complain that what taught in American high school are too easy or students there party too much. Yet, I argue that American high school is a good place to increase one 's language competence, culture comprehension, and social connection to American students and what students gained in American high school would improve both academic and social performance of them in American university.
Difference in high school education between American and China
The difference in education system between Chinese and American high schools is an important aspect, when people decide whether to study in American high schools. Thus, detailed description of the differences between these two education systems, the advantages and disadvantages of two is necessary for evaluating the influence of Chinese international students attending American high school. They raise questions freely and frequently and sometimes even have the opportunities to hold the class themselves. Experience with the learning materials are much more emphasized in the American schools. And, most importantly, the interaction between teachers and students are better compared to those in Chinese schools . Students are more willing to answer and ask questions. And teachers would help a lot on students both academic problems and real life issues, which brought them closer. Finally, most of the students joined clubs of their interests after class, which helps fostering their interests and developing
