In 1999 the US faced China for the Women’s World Cup. More than 660,000 individuals entered stadiums over the US to watch. The match came down to a penalty kick. After scoring the winning goal for the US, Brandi Chastain made a very unsuspecting and revealing gesture.
The United States and China played to a scoreless draw during regular and extra time. Both teams squared off for a shootout to decide the winners of the cup. China scored their first and second shot only to be matched by the United States. China's third shot was saved by US goalie Briana Scurry. By the fourth the US had the advantage. Leaving Chastain with the shot to win the tournament.
With her head down and her heart likely hammering crazy she took her shot. Wush! The ball
