In other countries, women’s rights aren’t given or supported. For some women, the daily act of living is often a struggle. In China, men are favored over women because they can work harder and faster. However, ever since China’s one-child policy was enacted, women are starting to gain more rights. In Document D of China’s One-Child Policy Mini Q, the author states, “Their parent’s only treasure, since the 1980s single daughters in China’s cities have enjoyed privileged child hoods with little different from their male counterparts.” Since some couples have only managed to produce females, these females are given lush lives with everything they would ever need. Also, there is no competition between brothers or sisters, giving the daughters freedom and more resources. In Document D, it the passage also states, “some of the hottest and best paying jobs in today’s globalizing social service economy are open exclusively to young women.” There is now a surplus of women in China, so females aren’t turned down from job opportunities. They often receive excellent jobs that they don’t have to compete with against men. Since China’s one-child policy, females are given outstanding opportunities that they wouldn’t have even dreamed about twenty years
