A Chinese philosopher by the name of Confucius, developed a religion based on ethics and philosophy. Confucius grew up in a time where China was in political turmoil. There were many divided kingdoms that all fought for dominance. Many suffered starvation, displacement, and some died from all the fighting. Confucius wanted to bring structure and peace to society, he hoped to achieve this goal by serving as a minister in government, but this never happened.
