Copper Copper’s name originates from a map that referred to copper as a metal from Cyprus in the 17th century. Copper has a reddish-gold color that stands out, its melting point is at 1984.32°f which is just under the average melting point of minerals. Copper is unique in its density because it is 8.96 g/cm3. Copper is a naturally occurring metal, but its most productive way to form is by smelting. In Chile, China, and Peru copper is the easiest to find than anywhere else. Copper is useful for many things; it is used to make metal wires, US coins, machinery, and gun metals. It is also used in water purification. Not only is it useful for everyday activities it is also used in your body. Everyday an adult Human needs 1.2 milligrams to help energy
