It’s meant if one of these if one of these three countries become too radical they would end up overthrowing the U.S military and basically create a revolution. It’s a bad thing for the U.S because we will end up losing money and lose trade with other countries that provide us with essentials that we need. “Nixon demanded a coup to determinate the inauguration of maix of Salvador Allende” (if magazine). If we let Allende come to power I believe that other surrounding countries will soon become communist this is a bad thing for the U.S because it will mess up our economy, we will lose trade with other countries and also we will lose profit we made from selling other countries U.S products. “At the time the Vietnam war was President Nixon biggest headache, although Nixon feared Allende’s victory might erode the image of U.S strength”(if magazine). The Vietnam War was an embarrassing time period for the United States it ties into the U.S being involved with Chile because I perceive that if we are able to overthrow Allende, it would state that the United States once again is a powerful country despite what happen 20 years ago. It’s a good thing for the United States because it will be a way for us to get back on our feet, also a way to earn the respect we lost due to the Vietnam War. “The United States failed, they allege because it did not use its power wisely or decisively the civilians forced the military to fight with one hand tied behind its back”(foreign affairs). It’s meant that the United States used the power we had to shame we were over confident in thinking we could stop a whole country from turning communism. It backed fired on us making us look powerless we looked like a joke. It’s an embarrassing thing we did because we lost our respect we had with other countries. It’s a way for us to make up for our faults and prevent that from happing
