Chile: Coat Of Arms

Improved Essays
Chile is the longest country in the world and it’s the country that i’m going to be researching today. Chile is located in South America, stretching along the west side of the Content. The history of Chile goes back to the 18th of september when Pedro de Valdivia founded the country. The shield is known as “Coat of arms” it has a condor and a huemul wearing crowns. They stand between a crest with three feathers on top and red and blue stripes in the middle with a star right in between. I felt that the most interesting parts of the shield was the condor, the huemul, and the words on the crest .

The condor is a bird that comes from the vulture family. It can weigh 17-30 pounds and its length usually somewhere between 3.3 and 4.3 feet.So why is this bird of the shield, well it’s Chile’s national bird. The condor is close to extinction due to being hunted for sport and because farms were worried it would be a threat

It’s the words on the Coat of arms but what’s the meaning? "Por la Razón o la Fuerza" means “ by reason or by force”. The reason for this motto goes back to when Chile had frequent wars with neighboring countries. Over time Chile used force when other reasonable options had failed. It also talks about how Chile struggled to gain independence from Spain and how they had no choice but to fight for their freedom.

I feel that i’ve learned a lot about taking care of what is yours because of how Chile is still trying to save the animals that they took for granted. I also think I understand why these things are on the coat of arms. The reason for both the condor and the Huemul is that they both represent the country for be the national animal and bird. The reason for the words of the coat of arms is that it shows a lot of history in just four words, it tells about how Chile tried to be reasonable but had to fight back.My personal favorite feature on this list was the motto of Chile because of the story it

This coat of arms is made to represent Ender Wiggin. In the novel, Ender’s Game, Ender Wiggin is a brave leader, a genius, and the general of a space army. The symbols represent each of those characteristics in some way. In the top left corner, there’s a crown, the symbol of a leader or king. When people have crowns bestowed upon them, one of their duties inherently becomes leading the army of whatever nation the person has been out in command of.…

The historical political development of Latin America is one that has been wroth with bloodshed, disagreement, and ultimately compromise. As we begin to analyze this area of the globe and its current state of political development—ranging from the impending impeachment of Brazilian President, Dilma Rouseff to the crippling democracy occurring under the quasi-dictatorship of Nicolas Maduro—it is important to critically engage with the historical trends and values which gave rise to a continent of liberal democracies. John Charles Chasteen’s Americanos: Latin America’s Struggle For Independence is seminal to understanding Latin American politics and history as it engages with the historical battles—both ideological and practical—in which leaders…

Miguel Gonzalez’s piece titled The Virgin of Guadalupe depicts the Virgin of Guadalupe in the center, with a smaller image in very corner and a beautifully decorated frame encompassing her image. She is shown looking down with her head a bit tilted to the left, a pose that characterizes her and distinguishes her from different virgins. She is in the center, with a beige background that most likely represents Juan Diego’s tilma, where her image appeared for the first time. Emanating from her image are diagonal lines that have a yellow, goldish color to them, that not only emphasize her presence in the image, but also represent her power and higher status. The lines draw attention to the figure in the center and also connect the four images…

Guerrilla warfare swept through Chile as independence fighters clashed with troops sent by Spanish loyalists. From 1814 to 1817, the Spanish government focused on ridding Chile of anyone looking to gain independence. Much of their efforts included limitations for native Chileans and discriminated against them. Although they had sought to quell the rise of independence, these actions by the Spanish had the opposite effect. The discriminating acts gave those fighting for independence a stronger base and brought more people to their side.…

Condor Comeback Wildlife Biologist Joseph Brandt as well as many other volunteers and bird specialists are trying their best to increase the population of the endangered California condor. At one point in time, these amazing birds almost went extinct. There are many reasons for the decrease in condor population, but the main cause is lead poisoning. The birds are scavengers and prey on dead carcasses. If they eat an animal that has been shot with lead ammunition, they could possibly contract this poisoning.…

Chile, a South American nation covering 292,258 square miles, borders Argentina to the east, Peru and Bolivia to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. During the time of the Cold War, Chile faced many challenges politically and economically due to the change in systems of government. Chile started as a presidential republic then shifted to a communist based society. Because the types of government have very contrasting viewpoints, the economy suffered through the shift. Before the era of the cold war in 1925, Chile was a presidential republic but later developed many ideological differences including the Chilean Communist Party within the Cold War period.…
