There’s a mug in my room, full with little pink reading challenges. My hand randomly picked one for this month and it was ‘read a classic’. So I picked up my e-reader and went through the classics that I have. Once again I randomly picked one book and it was The Secret Garden. It seemed short and not too complicated to read, so I chose it as my monthly challenge read. All I have to say is …show more content…
Mary, the protagonist, is going through tough times and has problems to cope with her new situation. A maid called Martha tells her about the secret garden, which is where to plot of the book actually starts. Mary searches for the garden and finds it of course. The whole plot revolves around the garden with its ‘magic’. Through the course of the book new characters like Dickon and Colin are introduced who become Mary’s friends. Especially Colin is influenced by the garden in a great way, because he actually starts to live again. At the end of the book we witness a beautiful reunion which rounds up the book perfectly. Also a big plus of this story. They’re children and all of them went through so much in their young life already. The garden and their friendship helps them to develop new character traits and influence each other to become greater persons. It’s also great that it’s kind of a slow relationship building. Mary and Colin get to know Dickon through stories told by other people, while these two met each other under freaky circumstances. These kids get to know each other slowly and build such a strong friendship that nothing else really matters. I have sooo many feelings for their friendship because it’s so innocent and light. Just like you would imagine a friendship to be.
Altogether this book was more than magnificent. I was in such a slump and thought no book could ever amaze me again, but the secret garden was everything I needed. It’s wonderful writing style, sweet friendship and awesome character development makes it so much more perfectly perfect. I could gush about this all day. All the love for this book. I would highly recommend it to every human being on the whole world, because it’s soooo
