Autism is an issue because kids can’t live a normal life and get to play around with other kids like climb trees, play video games, and go to school and learn everything that all the other kids are learning. There isn’t a cure for autism but there are some resources that can help children learn important skills that improve their everyday life. Autism can affect children of all ages and races. An estimated amount of 50,000 teens with autism that become adults loose school based autism services each year.
One third of people with autism stay nonverbal and they have intellectual disabilities. Every child that has ASD has different skills, challenges, and needs. There are many factors like genes, early brain development, and the environment. Some medical and health issues are gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, seizures, sleep disturbances, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders, anxiety and phobias. The causes of ASD are unknown but researchers think it is caused by different types of combinations of genetic and environmental influences. Some signs of autism for babies or toddlers are by 6 months there aren’t any smiles or joyful expressions directed at people or limited or no eye contact. By 9 months there isn’t sharing of vocal sounds, or other nonverbal communications. By 12 months no use of gestures, babbling, and no response when name is called. By 16 months they aren’t speaking and by 24 months there isn’t any meaningful or two word phrases. The last sign of babies or toddlers having autism is any loss of speech, babbling, or social
