Children that have ADHD are always on the go and runs about or climbs into situations where it would be labeled “inappropriate’’. Children with ADHD are very disorganized, lose many items, and make very careless mistakes. Teens with ADHD feel an inner restlessness and fidgets frequently. They also have difficulties staying focused in lectures. Adults also feel an inner restlessness as well and are impulsive. The biggest myth of ADHD is that it is non-existent, but as many know this is false because it is scientifically proven to be real. The next myth is that bad parenting causes ADHD, this also is untrue, but not completely, some parenting techniques can affect symptoms. A lesser-known myth is that people with ADHD are just lazy and dumb; this is obviously false because people with ADHD adjusted memory sharpens a person’s focus. Children outgrow ADHD is another completely untrue myth, about 70-100 kids keep symptoms into teen years and 50-100 teens carry symptoms to adult years. Another myth is that video games cause ADHD, this is also false, there is no proof. The last big myth of ADHD is, if a child has ADHD they can be diagnosed at any doctor’s office, this is partly true, except a child may not always show symptoms.
