Now, children have certain limitations such as kidnapping incidents or too many cars, to play outdoors and find other ways to entertain themselves. They use their imaginations to not only have fun, but to help the world. An eight year old named Hannah Taylor founded the Ladybug Foundation, “a charity dedicated to feeding and housing Canada’s homeless population.” (10 Incredible Charities Started by Kids) Another important charity created by a child is Care Bags 4 Kids. Eleven year old Annie Wignall created “an organization dedicated to providing youth in need with essential items to help nurture their growth into healthy, happy adults.” (10 Incredible Charities Started by Kids) Some children not only create organizations, but also create new inventions. Based on a fun competition with rubber bands, 11 year old Andrew Pellham made a rubber band connecting to a car door that reminds parents to not leave their child inside a hot car. He decided to create this “after learning approximately 38 children die each year from being left in hot cars.” (Murano, Oddee) An app called Oink-a-Saurus was created by a 12 year old who was interested in stocks. Fabian Fernandez-Han started this app to “teach kids about finance, money management, investing and the stock market.” (Inventions by …show more content…
With new innovations, children now are able to “make their own creations today using a 3-D printer” and interact with their favorite characters. (Richardson, Parents) As new sports and games are created, more children get more involved into extracurricular activities rather than to just go outside and play. According to a survey, “Fifty-seven percent of children between 6 and 17 years old participate in at least one after-school extracurricular activity…” and data collected show that 34.7% of all children play sports, 29.2% are in an extracurricular activity or lesson, and 28.8% join clubs. (Census Bureau) Another survey taken said that 66% of boys play a sport, and 52% of girls play a sport. Overall, 36,000,000 children play organized sports each year and 60% of kids play sports.
