Children During The Industrial Revolution

The industrial revolution left a drastic mark on society. The revolution changed the ways of people in the 18th century drastically; the classes began to change, some individuals became very wealthy but some individuals lived in horrible conditions. Children were sent to work in factories where they were mistreated and made to work as much as adults. Women began working in textile industries and started to spend less time at home with their families. The problems of the industrial revolution were shocking. In addition to the terrible working and living conditions, there was a chaos between the lower classes. Child labor laws were not enforced, and therefore the children had to work as hard as adults and got paid 1/10 of what an adult got paid. Children were the cheapest labor and could get into small spaces to do repetitive tasks and would not go on strikes like the adults would.
