Abstract
This research article tries to interpret the poem on basis of thematic analysis ( TA) that is a comprehensive and qualitative method for analysis of a literary text. Theme plays a pivotal role in literature and choice of words if apposite to the theme makes a literary piece appealing. This poem is very rich in this respect as it delineates the studying norms of children. We chose this poem, “Children at Lesson” for multiple reasons: it certainly manifests the Pakistani culture but its structure speaks of its complex narrative beauty, thematic meaningfulness and diction of the poem, all these elements combine to augment the artistic beauty of this narrative …show more content…
The conjunction Reader meets Text very often simply produces bafflement: one just cannot expose students to literary writing and hope that they will be apprised of its essential message by some kind of miraculous revelation. “Poetic language may violate or deviate from the generally observed rules of language in many different ways, some obvious, some subtle (Leech 1969).”
3. Thematic Analysis
3.1 Strife:
While having a thematic analysis of “Children at Lesson” by AlamgirHashmi the first theme that comes to our mind is strife for survival in society. Children are striving for education. They are running for their success and the first stanza describes;
These children come to our house
Each day, as if to drink from a
Fountain we know is there.
